Besides a beneficial, relaxing holiday, wouldn't you like to take a trip back into history and culture? After the fall of the Roman Empire, Aquileia became an important Patriarchy for more than a thousand years: from 699 to 1751. The patriarchal basilica houses one of the biggest and most antique western mosaics decorated with scenes of the sea, while the Museo Paleocristiano (Early Christian Museum) conserves a heritage of frescoes, mosaics and reliefs of enormous interest. Aquileia is still an important place for religion besides being a centre for conventions and historical, artistic and cultural events.
